Holy Rosary participates in the Reading Olympics competitions sponsored by the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. Teams of 8-12 in seventh and eighth grades read as many of the 45 books as possible. If interest peaks, we may have a team consisting of grades four through six. The book list is provided by the MCIU and covers several reading levels. Students read and compete against other schools, answering comprehension and content questions as a team. Teams actually compete for their own points, to try to earn the blue ribbon. The addition of other schools is to provide a small competition while bringing about camaraderie. A point value system is in place, where certain points earn students yellow, green, red, or blue ribbons. Students enjoy reading the books, and try their best to earn a blue ribbon!
